Notes
Before entering a pumpkin carving contest, make sure you know whether your jack-o-lantern will be displayed in darkness.
This skull design is one of my most-requested stencils. The trick is cutting the eye sockets at a slight inward angle so light pools dramatically inside the cavities.
Tips
- Use a linoleum cutter for the fine detail around the teeth
- Scoop the pumpkin wall to about 1 inch thick before carving
- Rub petroleum jelly on all cut edges to slow drying
